ABOUT GMEN BRIGHTON - YOUR SHORT-BREAK LEARNING ACTIVITY HOLIDAY ORGANISERS AND HOSTS
We have been involved in running short-break activity holidays and learning vacations since 1999 in the UK, France and Spain.The majority of these holidays have offered high quality sports, activity and adventure training - attracting amateur and professional athletes and sportsmen with a range of holidays themed around Winter Snowsports, Mountain Biking, Football, Basketball and Inline Hockey.
As a result we have long experience of organising and delivering learning residential and non-residential learning holidays with highly experienced Tutors and Coaches.
HOW DID GMEN BRIGHTON START?
GMen Brighton came about when we were chatting about how difficult it can be to meet gay and bisexual men and women away from the 'meat market' atmosphere of some gay bars and clubs.
Making new gay-friendly and gay friends away from the 'gay scene' is not as easy as it should be... and most 'gay holidays', especially cruises, seem to be sold on a promise of suncream, sex and not much else!
So we got thinking! We like... travel... meeting new people of all ages... good bars and clubs... and learning new stuff - some of us are brilliant cooks, cocktail makers, linguists, wine connoisseurs, photographers, comedians, singers, dancers... some of us suck at one or all of the above!
What we really want is the chance to take a short-break holiday in a decent, welcoming place where we can meet other gay and bisexual men and women in a relaxed environment, make new friends and having a laugh... and maybe return home with a new skill to show off to family and friends, as well as some great stories to tell.
We couldn't find it... so... as we have long experience running activity learning holidays etc in the UK and abroad... and we live and work in Brighton and love the City... we decided to organise it!
WE MADE THIS - GMEN BRIGHTON IS LAUNCHED!
First we chose BRIGHTON as our location because... let's face it... Brighton rocks!
It's a diverse, energetic city with a reputation for great shopping, arts, eating, drinking and nightlife. There is plenty going on in 'Gay Brighton', plenty to see and do inland... not forgetting a sweeping beach and all the trappings of the seaside, from swanky hotels, big yachts and colourful beach huts to fish and chips, deckchairs and crazy golf. Known as "Soho by the sea", Brighton is also very "gay friendly" with plenty of gay cafes, bars and nightclubs.
Then we came up with a list of skills and interests we fancied learning or improving for our holiday COURSES. We started with wine tasting/appreciation and cocktail making (no surprise there!) and then the list just kept getting longer as we found more fantastic Tutors. All our Tutors have the qualifications, experience, positive attitude and passion for teaching that we think are essential to ensure a lively, stimulating learning opportunity for everyone participating.
Next we came up with a SOCIAL PROGRAMME and a team of hand-picked GMEN HOSTS who would work hard to ensure everyone was having a brilliant time, enjoying Brighton and making new friends.
Finally we looked for the best teaching/training facilities we could find in Brighton and thought about ACCOMMODATION issues, deciding to offer a choice a 'non-residential' package, knowing that there is plenty of good accommodation (hotels, bed & breakfasts and self-catering) in Brighton & Hove to suit all budgets.
Everything other than your ACCOMMODATION and TRAVEL to Brighton has been planned and arranged for you. All you have to do is decide on the holiday Course you want to do and your preferred HOLIDAY DATES and then BOOK to join us for what promises to be a pretty special 2/4 days in Brighton!
